The City of Fernandina Beach has a regular part-time opening for a:
Title: Maintenance Assistant
Department: Golf Course
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Golf Course Grounds Superintendent
Pay Grade:123 ($15.00 - $ 17.23)
Minimum Qualifications
A. Education and Experience:
Must possess high school diploma or GED.
B. Driver License Required:
Must have a valid Florida Drivers License with a driving records that meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards.
C. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Operation of grounds-keeping, construction, and maintenance equipment. Good physical condition and ability and willingness to perform required manual tasks. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Essential Functions
1.Mows, weeds, fertilizes, and maintains grounds.
2.Operates small mowers, small tractors to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas, to apply prescribed amounts of lime, fertilize, insecticide, and fungicide, and to mow rough and fairway areas at designated cut, exercising care not to injure turf or shrubs.
3.Operates hand or power mower to cut turf on green and tee areas.
4.Connects hose and sprinkler systems at designated points on course to irrigate turf.
5.Cleans restrooms, club house, and building area.
6.Maintains and repairs facilities.
7.Sets hole locations on greens and moves tee markers to various locations.
8.Digs and rakes ground to prepare new greens, grades and cleans traps and repairs roadbeds.
9.Plants, trims, and sprays trees and shrubs.
10.Reads and interprets manuals to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
11.Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules
12.Other duties as assigned.
Essential Physical Skills
Acceptable eyesight, hearing (with/without correction), moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling, driving, operating equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
Environmental Conditions
Works outside in various weather conditions with dust, dirt, noise, and vibrations. Works with chemicals (insecticides, herbicides, etc.) and cleaning supplies. Works in or with moving objects.
