Lieutenant Monique Myers of the James City County Police Department has been promoted to Assistant Police Chief .
Lt . Myers was previously employed with Portsmouth Police Department as a police officer . Lt . Myers was hired by James City County Police Department in October 2006 . Lt . Myers has served JCCPD as a Patrol Officer , a Community Service Unit Officer , Patrol Sergeant , Community Services Unit Sergeant and Lieutenant . Lt . Myers is currently serving as the Lieutenant of the Professional Standards and Internal Affairs Unit in the Administrative Services Division . Over the past years of her service , Lt . Myers has received several awards and decorations , to include the Supervisory Service Award . In addition , she is a Virginia Certified Crime Prevention Specialist and an Advanced Rape Aggression Defense ( RAD ) Instructor .
Lt . Myers has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Troy University . She is a recent graduate from the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond .
The James City County Police Department recently reclassified the Major positions to Assistant Police Chief . The new reclassification has come as a result of the elimination of the Deputy Chief position . Lt . Myers will join Assistant Police Chiefs Tony Dallman and Steve Humphries on June 1 .
