Starting today , an N . C . Department of Transportation contractor will be closing a portion of NC73 in Lincoln County for several days for a bridge repair on the bridge across the Catawba River at the Cowans Ford Dam .
   Starting today , an N . C . Department of Transportation contractor will be closing a portion of a state highway in Lincoln County for several days for a bridge repair .
   Starting at 9 a . m . , one lane of N . C . 73 will be closed at Bridge 50 ( Catawba River at the Cowans Ford Dam . ) , which carries traffic over the Catawba River . This closure is necessary to allow crews to make repairs to the end bents of the bridge . The lane will remain closed until work is complete on May 25 .
   Motorists are reminded to remain alert for road workers and to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone .
