Funding is through the American Rescue Plan Act
KILLEEN , Texas ( May 24 , 2022 ) – Killeen City Councilmembers have selected 15 nonprofit organizations to receive grant funding of up to $10 , 000 each . The funding is through two grant programs with the American Rescue Plan Act ( ARPA ) .
Six organizations , including DaZona Life and Learning , the Greater Killeen Free Clinic , Unity Visitation Center , Operation Phantom Support , Variety the Children’s Charity of Texas , and the Academy of Exceptional Learners will receive funding from the ARPA Nonprofit Grant Program .
Nine organizations will receive funds for the Public Facility Corporation Youth Organization Assistance Nonprofit Grant Program , and they include Songhai Bamboo Roots Association , CASA of Bell and Coryell Counties , Killeen Cove Chief Youth Sports Association , Educated Angels , Gardens of Hope Central Texas , Central Texas Junior Grey Wolves Youth Sports Association , AYADD Outreach Center , Hope Restoration Center and the Church of Deliverance .
The application process was open from April 13 to May 12 and was available to existing nonprofit youth organizations and programs that address the needs of our residents and respond to the negative impacts of the COVID - 19 Pandemic . Each organization was notified on May 18 during a Special Council Workshop . Nonprofits selected for funding will not be eligible for additional awards .
A total of $350 , 000 has been allocated for the Youth Organization Assistance Program and $150 , 000 for the Nonprofit Grant Program through the American Rescue Plan Act .
