The 2022 Summer Innovation Internship Program has ended , and we are proud of the achievements of this cohort! The interns at Business Innovation & Technology ( BIT ) spent their summer semester working with Jeffco employees across several departments to research emerging technologies , explore new uses of existing
county technologies , develop prototypes , and create business cases .
About the 2022 Summer Cohort
We had six interns this spring from University of Colorado...... and University of Denver . They worked on technology projects across various parts of the organization including Human Services , Finance , Human Resources , Safety and Compliance , and BIT .
Making an Impact at Jeffco
Jefferson County Innovation and Digital Transformation interns lead technology and business process improvements within our local government .
, University of Denver , investigated how Jeffco might secure funding from the $1 . 2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for transformational projects . Sejal partnered with Jeffco’s Federal Grants team and several departments as they researched and submitted applications for over $350 million in grants related to transportation , broadband , and other infrastructure projects .
, University of Colorado Denver , built “Cyber Solve” , an internal cybersecurity awareness training , that will be launched in October to all 3 , 500 Jefferson County Employees . Braedan partnered with the Cybersecurity team and incorporated elements of gamification into cybersecurity programs to increase employee engagement .
, University of Colorado Boulder , successfully implemented a Mobile Device Management ( MDM ) solution with Human Services and BIT . Mohit led the project planning and execution efforts where hundreds of county devices were migrated from AirWatch to Intune . Mohit completed the project with time to spare by facilitating process improvements that reduced implementation time by 40% .
, University of Denver , evaluated how Jeffco could use Power BI to transparently display financial information to the public . Cara worked with the Strategy , Planning and Analysis team to prototype a public dashboard and compare it against other financial transparency tools such as OpenGov . Cara is continuing her work in the fall .
, University of Denver , engineered a Robotic Process Automation prototype to assist with the employee offboarding process . Carly worked with Human Resources and BIT to build an automation that will run over 800 times per year . Carly will continue her work in the fall .
, University of Denver , managed a Robotic Process Automation project and researched Low - code/No - code technologies . Chris partnered with the Enterprise Applications team to evaluate how Jeffco might leverage low - code technologies to support digital service delivery . Chris is also managing the development of a Robotic Process Automation to de - commission employee accounts when they resign from the county .
We thank our interns for their time working at Jeffco this summer . We are proud of their growth and the impact they have made at Jeffco .
