Sgt . Mirra started her career with the Hopewell Township Police Department in September of 2010 . After spending several years in patrol , in 2017 she was transferred to the Detective Bureau , making her the first female in the department’s history to hold the rank of detective .
In addition to her work with HTPD , Sgt . Mirra is very dedicated to several different community policing efforts; she created the first HTPD Pride Patch to raise funds for a local group home . She volunteers with a mentorship program for LGBTQ+ youth and has helped to equip all of the HTPD frontline vehicles with sensory communication kits to aid in connecting with people with Autism and other difficulties .
Sgt . Mirra currently serves as the department’s LGBTQ Liaison , S . A . F . E . Coordinator , and is a member of one of the department’s Crisis Intervention Teams ( CIT ) . She earned her M . A . in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College in 2021 . While earning her degree , she worked as a volunteer crisis counselor for the New York City suicide hotline .
