Minimum Qualifications
A.
Education and Experience:
High school graduate or GED required. Five (5) years experience in the operation of heavy equipment in underground pipe installation. A comparable amount of training, education, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
B.
Certifications:
Valid class “B” CDL license required w/ tanker endorsement.
Valid certifications in storm water operations, traffic maintenance preferred.
C.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Must have knowledge of modern practices, methods, and equipment used in stormwater construction and maintenance of same and of internal combustion engines and some skill in their repair. Must have knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations and of effective precautionary measures necessary to avoid accidents. Ability to make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments preferred. Interpersonal skills, good physical condition, and ability and willingness to perform manual tasks required.
General Description
Skilled work in the operation of heavy and complex construction equipment and in the performance of various maintenance functions. Frequent contact with the public requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
Essential Functions
1.
Operates intermediate size excavators and grading equipment in construction and maintenance of ponds.
2.
Operates intermediate size back hoes and end loaders in excavation and back fill of trenches, excavation and maintenance of drainage ditches and loading trucks.
3.
Operates vacuum truck in cleaning of inlets and pipes.
4.
Operates pumps and dewatering equipment.
5.
Operates other similar type equipment, including street sweeper.
6.
Performs routine safety inspections on equipment. Advises management of potential risks.
7.
Operates and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment. Cleans equipment.
8.
Manages stormwater crew in performance of daily activities.
9.
Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
10.
Attends and participates in administrative meetings as required.
11.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Physical Skills
Acceptable eyesight, hearing (with/without correction), smelling, moderate lifting and carrying (up to 80 lbs.), reaching, pulling, pushing, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, balancing, stooping, climbing, crawling, driving, operating equipment; heights to 55 feet. Reasonable accommodations will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.
Environmental Conditions
Works inside and outside in various weather conditions with dust, dirt, noise, fumes, grease, oils, electrical energy, slippery surfaces, and vibrations. Works in or with moving objects.
