The Hernando Parks Department and U . S . Army Corp of Engineers partnered to provide our community with a guided nature hike on March 26
th
. The Natural Resource Specialists shared their wealth of knowledge during the hike . Participants learned about the wildlife that inhabit our region and were able to see a beaver ' s dam , woodpeckers , and deer in the woods . They also learned about the importance of timber management and learned how to identify some trees and so much more . It was a great experience for those in the community who were able to participate . If you missed out on the first hike , you have another opportunity to get in on the next one . The next hike is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9am on May 14
th
. Space is limited , so make sure you secure your spot by registering at the Gale Center or online at

. Participants will meet in the Gale Center parking lot ( on the west side of the building ) and leave at 8:40am sharp to caravan to the Arkabutla visitor center , where the adventure will begin . Hope you can join us!
