   About the Department:
   
   The Department of Emergency Services is responsible for providing a
   dvanced Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency planning and coordination for County government, and e
   mergency communications, including 911 dispatch, police communications for the Sheriff’s Office and four town police departments, and fire and rescue communications for eight volunteer fire companies and the county EMS responders.
   
   
   About the Job:
   
   This is a full time skilled specialized work as a Maryland Certified Emergency Medical Technician. A self- motivated, responsible person with administrative duties. Performs necessary emergency medical care on sick, injured, or convalescent persons at the site of an incident and in route to the hospital or other destination as prescribed by MIEMSS.
   
   
   Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
   Thorough knowledge of emergency health care procedures and patient condition evaluations.
   
   Skill in the use of authorized medical equipment.
   
   Ability to properly evaluate patient condition and render emergency medical care.
   
   Ability to operate emergency vehicles.
   
   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, peers, the public, fire departments, MIEMSS, and hospitals in the surrounding area.
   
   Ability to maintain certification as a Maryland *EMT or higher as prescribed by *MIEMSS.
   
   Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
   
   
   EMT I: Minimum Education, Training and Experience:
   Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. and Maryland licensed Emergency Medical Technician
   
   Required Licenses and Certificates:
   Maryland licensed Emergency Medical Technician
   Valid Maryland class “C” driver’s license.
   Certified in C.P.R. at the Health Care Provider level.
   *MFRI hazard material operations within six months after employment
   *
   EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment
   
   
   EMT II: Minimum Education, Training and Experience:
   Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. and Maryland licensed Emergency Medical Technician and
   
   2 – 5 years of experience as full time Emergency Medical Technician with Caroline County or 5 – 10 years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with another agency.
   
   Required Licenses and Certificates:
   Maryland licensed Emergency Medical Technician
   Valid Maryland class “C” driver’s license.
   FEMA ICS 100 & 700,
   FEMA IS-5.a An Introduction to Hazardous Materials Course
   Certified in C.P.R. at the Health Care Provider level.
   *
   EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment
   
   
   EMT III: Minimum Education, Training and Experience:
   Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. and Maryland licensed Emergency Medical Technician and
   
   5+ years of experience as full time Emergency Medical Technician with Caroline County or 10+ years of experience as an Emergency Medical Technician with another agency.
   
   
   Required Licenses and Certificates:
   Maryland certified Emergency Medical Technician
   Valid Maryland class “C” driver’s license.
   Certified in C.P.R. at the Health Care Provider level

   EVOC or acceptable equivalent course within six months after employment
   
   
   
   Salary Rate:
   
   EMT I:
   $17.60
   /
   Hourly
   
   EMT II:
    $18.10/ Hourly
   
   EMT III:
   $18.86/ Hourly
   
   
   May vary depending upon experience.
