Bring your passion for working with children to the Village of Lake Zurich’s ever-growing Yellow Brick Road Preschool Program. The Park & Recreation Department is looking for a team member that will bring their skills and enthusiasm to inspire our community’s youngest population both inside our classrooms and at the front desk of Buffalo Creek greeting our participants and assisting the Early Childhood Teachers and Teacher’s Aides as needed.
Collaborate with and assist the Early Childhood Teacher and Teacher’s aide to lead a group of children that may include toddlers, preschool-aged, or kindergarten-aged children. This role also serves as a substitute when one of our Teacher’s or aides are unavailable for the day. The main role will be to help at the front desk area of Buffalo Creek greeting participants, assisting teachers with day to day preparation and helping with students as needed. Our programs run from August – May with up to 20 hours per week.

Assist the Early Childhood Teacher implement age appropriate early childhood education curriculum for children ranging in age from 2 years old to 5 years old.
Prepare and manage classroom setting before and after the program; ensure constant supervision of children; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
Ensure the safety of all program participants by following Village Safety Guidelines.
Understand and execute all policies and emergency procedures associated with the class.
Ensure the site is clean and organized.
Understand and evaluate a student’s social/emotional, cognitive, physical and developmental needs.
Apply appropriate positive discipline techniques with children.
Effectively and courteously interact with parents as needed or instructed by Early Childhood Teacher.
Manage individuals and situations in a respectful, positive, sensitive and mature manner.
Serve as Park & Recreation Department representative, provide leadership and work effectively with the program participants, parents and all staff.
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Work with special events, promotions, and any other special needs as they arise.
