Under the direction of the Fire Chief or his designee, protects life and property within municipal limits of the City of Westlake, Ohio; by performing firefighting, paramedic, hazardous material and fire prevention duties. Maintains
fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

Qualifications:
Applicants for the position of firefighter shall meet the following at the time of application and appointment:
Applicant must have been employed by an Ohio political subdivision as a
full-time firefighter
;
Applicant’s current or previous employment shall have been the result of Civil Service examination process for firefighter;
Applicant must possess a State of Ohio Firefighters II certification, current State of Ohio EMT/Paramedic certification and be current with all applicable educational requirements;
Applicant must be appointed prior to applicant’s 45
th
birthday;
Must pass background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological examination, physical examination, oral interview(s), pre-employment drug screening, fitness for duty and physical agility examinations;
All department probationary periods shall apply;
Seniority shall be based on date of hire with the City of Westlake;

alid State of Ohio Driver's License;
Must have an acceptable driving record;
