Reporting to the Team Leader, the Recreation Facilities Operator I is responsible for performing a variety of daily tasks maintaining community recreation facilities including indoor pools, sports arenas, sports fields, and grounds. Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of City recreation buildings, pool operations, grounds keeping, some landscaping, snow removal, repairs, and operating small equipment according to safety practices and standards.

Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service
Perform daily building and equipment maintenance and small repairs for community center building, aquatic center, sports fields, parking lots and driveways
Operate tractors, grass cutting equipment, ice-surfaces, small loaders, skid-steer, and other machinery
Perform other ground maintenance and snow clearing
Operate City vehicles
Lift up to 50lbs, work at varied heights from ladders, scaffolding boom trucks and load and unload vehicles
Complete daily or weekly maintenance logs or reports and attend team meetings
Knowledge and compliance of Alberta OHS and the City of Wetaskiwin safety programs
This position requires shift work including evening and weekends
This position must be on the on-call rotation and respond to work within 30 minutes of call-out
Education and Work Experience
High School Diploma
Experience in building maintenance an asset with preference given to candidates who have any of the following certificates: Arena Operator Level 1; Building Maintenance Level 1; Pool Operator Level 1; and Alberta health Services Pool Operator Level 1.
Experience with operating small equipment and machinery
Safety tickets such as, First Aid, WHIMIS confined space an asset
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to operate small mechanical equipment and machinery
Ability to perform physical outdoor and indoor seasonal work
Knowledge and experience of maintaining of buildings
Experience in operating building and maintenance equipment
Ability to read charts, diagrams, and blueprints
Ability to display mature judgment and self-confidence to deal with disciplinary and emergency situations involving personnel and the public
Ability to communicate orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, employees, and the general public
*Note- This position is currently being offered as a 1 Year Term with the potential to become a permanent position once the term commences.
