DUTIES: This position is responsible for the maintenance and accurate reporting of Police Department Records. Duties include maintaining accurate tracking, filing, and retention of Police Department generated reports and documents. The employee is responsible for accurate reporting of Police Department records to authorized personnel; a high degree of accuracy is critical in this position. The employee will act as a liaison with all of the Police Departments records management system’s vendors and ensure compatibility amongst systems. In addition the employee will act as a Police Department liaison to the City Attorney, City Court and other related courts, the District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, other law enforcement agencies, and other authorized entities related to Police Department records. In addition, the employee will also be responsible for fingerprinting and identification requirements related to both criminal and civil processes. This position deals with other law enforcement agencies in the identification of criminals. The employee will also act as a designated purchasing agent for the Police Department and ensure that related office equipment and supplies are maintained for the proper functioning of the Police Department.. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Lieutenant with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgement in carrying out detail of the work.
