   POSITION SUMMARY:
        The Electrician’s Helper assists the City’s Electrician with maintenance and new electrical work, maintenance of traffic lights, maintenance of storm warning sirens, etc.
    
   SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
   Works both independently and in close contact with co-workers in carrying out regularly scheduled job duties, as well as duties assigned as assistance is needed by other departments of the City.
   Adheres to established policy and work procedure with little supervision required or effected.
   Communicates and responds, orally and in writing, to superiors with reference to information concerning department.
   Assists in repair or installation of new electrical components, such as motor starter, pump panel, timers, relays, bulbs, ballasts, etc.
   Performs minor repairs, changes light bulbs, and cleans traffic light controller cabinet.
   Performs minor repairs, changes fuses, cleans sirens and cleans cabinets for traffic lights.
    
   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    
   Applicant must have the following qualifications:
    
   Ability to comply with the City of Woodward safety policy.
   Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
   Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
   Skill to follow oral and written instructions and undertake responsibilities with little direct supervision.
   Must possess verbal perception, motor coordination, and manual dexterity.
   Ability to read, understand and communicate fluently in the English language.
   Willingness to work as needed on holidays and weekends.
   Willingness to work outside in all kinds of weather.
   Willingness to follow instructions and to assist other departments as needed.
   Ability to maintain working relationships with fellow employees and the general public.
   Ability to make mathematical computations accurately and with reasonable speed.
   Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and driving record acceptable to City’s insurance carrier.
   Ability to pass background screening.
   Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening.
   Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
    
    
   WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    
   Applicant must be able to meet the following working conditions and physical requirements:
    
   Much of the work is performed outdoors in inclement weather and during all seasons.
   Some work may be performed in confined areas and on slick and wet surfaces.
   May be exposed to vibrations, loud continuous noise, offensive smells, dust, dirt and water.
   May be required to work “on call”; during emergencies to work overtime to remove snow, sand and salt streets, and work unscheduled overtime during peak periods.
   May be required to work on a ladder or off ground level.
   Performs manual labor for extended periods under unfavorable weather conditions. Works oftentimes in cramped space, drafty areas, poor lighting, and other unpleasant conditions.
   May be exposed to injury from moving equipment, insect bites, poison plants, flying objects, slippery surfaces, and hazardous materials.
   Must have strength to pull, lift, push 50 lb. objects on a frequent basis and up to 100 lb. on an infrequent basis; flexibility to bend, twist, reach; mobility to climb, crawl, walk; dexterity to operate machinery and tools on uneven surfaces; and stamina to exert self throughout the day in all weather conditions.
   Will be subject to 24 hour call and conduct is expected to project dependability and assurance.
