After a two - year absence , one of the most popular annual events in the city – Touch - A - Truck – returns June 4 on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma .
   Featuring dozens of trucks from across the city , Touch - A - Truck is a fundraising event that provides kids of all ages the opportunity to experience life - size vehicles and interact with community support leaders like police officers , firemen , construction workers and many more . City of Edmond’s own fire trucks and police cars , an Edmond Electric bucket truck and even a solid waste truck will be available for hands - on exploration .
   The event at parking lot #6 on the UCO campus runs from 9 a . m . to noon and will feature a “quiet hour” from 9 a . m . to 10 a . m . to accommodate those sensitive to loud noises . During this time , no horns or loud music will be allowed .
   Sponsored by Edmond Electric , the event is free , but a suggested $2 donation goes to The Hope Center of Edmond to benefit residents in need . The last event , in 2019 , displayed more than 50 different vehicles for kids to enjoy and raised $5 , 200 for The Hope Center .
   “We are thrilled to bring back Touch - A - Truck this year , ” said Nicole Koehn , program coordinator for Edmond Electric . “It always is one of the most popular annual events in the city and it gives kids and residents a chance to see the equipment and people who work daily to bring services and public safety support to our community . I think it’s great to be able to put a face to those services and to get a real feel for the technology and skill it takes to make those services happen . ”
   Food trucks and vendors also will be on hand for the event .
