The Streets Department is accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator I position.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs heavy manual work involving maintenance and lawn care tasks requiring the use of tools and equipment. May operate a vehicle and/or grounds maintenance equipment.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
(All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)
Routinely operates power mowers, including 60” – 72” riding mowers, edger’s, clippers and other equipment used for lawn mowing, perform; edging, removal of weeds, trimming hedges and trees, fertilizes grounds, lays sod, plant and mulch flower beds, disposes of debris and other landscaping maintenance.
Prepares for City functions and special events by setting up tables, chairs and other equipment as needed.
Works City sponsored special events, cleaning up, emptying trash cans, directing traffic/parking, assisting with event activities.
May performs cleaning duties of sinks, mopping floors, urinals, empties and cleans trash containers in City Parks, prepares ball fields for public use, etc.
Performs duties in the installation and repair and upkeep of mains in the sewer system.
Assists with stormwater system maintenance, including cleaning ditches, canals, and stormwater grates and outfalls.
Requires ability to properly drive pick-up trucks with utility/equipment trailers.
Replaces broken parts on equipment; keeps equipment clean and performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
Installs and repairs chain link fencing for the City.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
