Applications are now being accepted by the Department of Health to fill one Director of Public Health Emergency Response vacancy. The nature of this appointment is provisional pending outcome of a Civil Service Examination.
The Director has the responsibility for the coordination of all activities relating to the preparedness and response to a public health emergency. Areas of responsibility include development and maintenance of the Public Health Emergency Response Plan, adhering to New York State and Federal deliverables, and working with the department divisions of Nursing and Office of Epidemiology and Public Health Planning in coordinating emergency response during public health emergencies. The position reports directly to and works under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Health. The Director must work effectively with officials from a large number of diverse and independent agencies and organizations to obtain their commitment and involvement in the Public Health Emergency Response Plan.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(A)
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Public Administration or Communications; OR
(B)
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of experience in emergency management planning and response; OR
(C)
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's Degree and four (4) years of experience as outlined in (B) above.
CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION WILL BE REQUIRED

SALARY RANGE: $60,491 - $99,151 depending on experience. Competitive benefits package includes comprehensive health, dental and vision insurance, long term disability insurance, and NYS Retirement.
