Additional information:
After training, this position will be located at the Delta County Annex in Hotchkiss, CO.
Primary responsibility at this time is serving motor vehicle responsibilities.
Delta County is accepting applications for the position of Department Clerk I. This position performs various routine and complex clerical and administrative functions, including customer service over the phone and in person, general office support, and assisting where needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
When Assigned to Elections:
Update and maintain voter registration records based on guidelines, policies, procedures used in the department within a designated time frame, i.e. Colorado Revised Statutes, County Policies and Procedures, etc.
Read and remain current on all voting and election laws and rules.
Learn functions and operations of election voting equipment.
Provide information to the public, either in person or by phone on elections or refer public to appropriate staff for assistance.
Attain Election certification as required by HAVA through Regional Trainings, Conference calls, Webinar’s.
Meet HAVA continuing education requirements.
Some out of town travel required.
Some overtime and Saturdays required during the election period.
When Assigned to Vital Records/Motor Vehicle/Recording:
Perform all duties in the processing, maintaining, issuing and certifying of vital records.
Perform all duties in recording and filing of required legal documents.
Perform all duties related to issuing of titles, plates and registration for all vehicles and trailers.
Receive and direct public inquiries as they pertain to functions of the Clerk’s office.
Read and remain current on all statutes concerning recording, vital statistics and motor vehicle.
Provide information to the public, either in person or by phone on elections, vital statistics, marriage licenses, recording and some motor vehicle questions or refer to the appropriate individuals.
Education & Experience:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Five (5) years working with the public and office setting experience
Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirement
Licenses/Certifications:
Current and valid Colorado Driver’s License required
Salary Range:
$16 per hour
