Attorneys Receive Awards from Bar Association
The board recognized Anoka County attorneys Tony Palumbo and Anne Zimmerman for receiving awards from the Minnesota State Bar Association Public Law Section . Palumbo , who has worked for the Anoka County Attorney’s Office for 45 years , the last 11 as county’s lead attorney , was given the Douglas K . Amdahl Career Achievement Award . Zimmerman , an attorney in the county’s Civil Division - Protective Services Unit , was presented with the Public Attorney Award of Excellence in Civil Law from the Association . Market Rate Adjustment Approved for Attorney’s Office
Following years of recruitment , hiring and retention problems due to low pay , the County Attorney’s Office , in partnership with the county’s Human Resources Office , conducted a detailed market study and found that the office’s pay rates were considerably lower than market for most comparable positions . Agreement Approved for ‘Anoka Solution’
The board adopted a resolution authorizing Anoka County to enter into a local road improvement program agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for the “Anoka Solution” interchange project on U . Donation Accepted from Centerville Lions Club

County Seeking Grant Funds for Banfill Locke Historic House
In 2020 , Anoka County hired Collaborative Design to conduct a condition assessment on the Banfill historic house . That assessment determined the structure would need a new roof and siding . To pay for these fixes , the board adopted a resolution supporting a Minnesota Historical Society grant application . If this grant is awarded , construction would occur in 2023 . Contract Awarded for Archaeological Evaluation Along Trail Site
The county has $500 , 000 in state bonding funds to design and engineer a segment of the Rice Creek North Regional Trail from Golden Elementary School to Baldwin Park in Circle Pines . Since this project is located along Rice Creek , a known area for archaeological resource , the board approved a contract with 106 Group LTD for an archeological evaluation to be performed along the proposed trail route . Trainer Reduces Fee as Donation for K - 9 Program
The board accepted a fee reduction donation from K - 9 grainer Mark McDonough . McDonough usually charges $17 , 500 for the purchase and training of a new K - 9 officer .
