The City of Kearney Public Works Department and Wilke Contracting Corp . would like to inform the public that 2nd Avenue overpass repairs will begin on Monday , June 20 , 2022 .  Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions .  Over - sized and wide loads are encouraged to use an alternate route .  The improvements to the bridge structure are extensive and expected to be completed by the end of September .  
   If possible , citizens are highly encouraged to use an alternate route during their daily commute .  Drivers should use extreme caution , as during the course of construction lane closures will be shifted from inside lanes to outside lanes .  During construction , traffic delays are likely .  Please slow down , stay off mobile devices , and stay alert as to provide the safest environment possible for commuters and the construction crew working onsite .
