Reporting to the Director, Protective Services/Fire Chief, this position seeks compliance and promotes, facilitates, and enforces provisions of municipal and provincial bylaws with an application of fairness and consistency. This position works amicably with the public and other agencies for the purpose of preserving the peace and good of the community through education, compliance, and unbiased application of the law.
Customer Service
Promotes a positive, professional image of the Town of Hinton in all interactions and strive to achieve the highest level of customer service
Seek to become truly connected in the community, by developing relationships and rapport with visitors
Responds in a positive, professional, and timely manner to inquiries, complaints, or suggestions and follow-up as required
Defer issues to the appropriate person/department/agency for resolution if needed
Job Knowledge
Acting as an ambassador of the Town of Hinton
Aligned activities within council priorities
Enforce Municipal Bylaws and Provincial Statues as they appear on the individual appointments
Proactively patrol the Town of Hinton
Investigate complaints and take appropriate action to resolve each situation
Assist other Town departments
Complete daily reports and data entry into report exec system
Be expected to work on-call shifts during evenings, weekends and on a rotational basis
Teamwork
Participate in team meetings
Work in collaboration with other Town of Hinton departments to understand and meet the client’s needs and expectations
Willingly takes on a variety of duties as assigned, which may not be part of the regular day-to-day expectations
Work in conjunction with outside agencies ie. RCMP, Fish & Wildlife, Commercial Vehicles

Behave in alignment with the Town of Hinton values and workplace policies
Demonstrates a willingness and commitment to learning over time for improved service delivery and organizational efficiency
Safety
Ensure that Safety is the #1 priority of the department
Understand and carries out the supervisor responsibilities as outlined in the Town of Hinton Health & Safety Directive
Works in a manner that is safe for everyone and reports hazards
Emergencies
As declared by the Director of Emergency Management, in coordination with the RCMP, emergencies will take precedence.
All other responsibilities will then become secondary in such cases.
Assist Town of Hinton Firefighter department with incident management response as qualifications allow and as directed by the Director, Protective Services/Fire Chief or designate.
