   June 14 , 2022 - City offices will close Monday , June 20 , to observe the Juneteenth holiday . Trash and recycling pickups will move to Wednesday , June 22 . Parks will remain open .

   Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African - Americans . On June 19 , 1865 , Union troops reached Texas , the last Confederate state that still had forced enslavement . It is also often observed to celebrate African - American culture . Because June 19 is on Sunday , the holiday will be observed Monday , June 20 .
