Clean up efforts can assistance with tree debris pick up efforts
The City of Charlottetown Emergency Measures team and EMO partners remain on the ground as community recovery and clean up efforts continue today and over the weekend . Work crews have been on the ground since first light again today with a focus on tree clean up on roadways and sidewalks . Crews have also started assessment and clean up efforts for trails , parks and playgrounds .
There is a continued focus on the areas with damaged trees that requi......re multiple EMO partners to address and resolve the matter . In terms of progress , almost all municipal roads have been cleared and are now passable . As a reminder , owners are urged to contact their insurance company regarding all matters related to property damage .
Debris Pick Up and Drop Off
Where possible , residents are encouraged to cut tree branches into pieces that are four ( 4 ) feet in length or shorter and place them next to the roadway . To assist with the clean up efforts , pieces that are wider than 10 inches in diameter should be cut down into pieces that are two ( 2 ) feet in length or shorter . As a reminder , please do not pile other garbage or debris with the tree branches and stumps as this will slow down the clean up efforts as they are not part of the tree debris pick up . Public Works crews are picking up the tree debris , however due to volume , this work will continue for several days .
The province has provided information on debris drop - off options for post - Fiona cleanup . For more information ,

Barbeques and cooking appliances are not to be used indoors and this includes garages and balconies .
Generators must be used outdoors and away from any building openings .
Do not attempt to clear trees or branches away from downed power lines .
Do not pile debris on the roadway . If it safe to do so , please place manageably - sized debris in piles on the side of the road and away from sidewalks . This will help City crews during the lengthy clean up process ahead .
Municipal water is safe to drink , however please conserve water and limit usage as much as possible . The less water enters the system , the easier it is for our Water and Sewer Utility to maintain service .
Stay out of parks and off of playgrounds until further notice . With roadways as the current priority , work crews will assess parks and park infrastructure in the coming days .
   Reporting a Municipal Issue
To report an issue with Public Works or Water and Sewer Utility , please call our mainline at 902 - 566 - 5548 . Residents can also call this line with any questions or concerns .
