The City of Janesville is pleased to announce it has selected Assistant City Engineer Brad Reents to serve as its next City Engineer . He will begin in this role on Monday , May 23 , 2022 .
Reents began his career as a Project Engineer for a Madison - based consulting firm in 2006 . While working in the private sector , he also held the positions of Municipal Project Manager and Team Leader , supervising public infrastructure projects and working closely with public agencies .
Reents joined the City of Janesville in June 2019 as Assistant City Engineer . During his time in that role , he assisted in planning and overseeing various operations and projects in the Engineering Division . He was the City ' s Project Manager for the Milwaukee Street Bridge project , which the American Public Works Association ( APWA ) - Wisconsin Chapter recognized as its 2021 Project of the Year . He also acted as the Accreditation Manager for the Department of Public Works , leading the City to have the first APWA accredited agency in the state . Over his 16 years in the field , Reents has helped design and implement over $160 million in capital improvement projects .
Janesville has proven to be a great place to live , work , and raise my family , said Reents of his selection . The Engineering Division has an excellent group of staff , and I ' m looking forward to working with everyone in this new role .
Reents received his bachelor ' s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville . He holds the credential of Licensed Professional Engineer and is an active member of the APWA - Wisconsin Chapter , previously serving as the organization ' s Membership Services Chair .
Brad is a life - long Janesville resident who has made significant contributions to the community throughout his engineering career , ' said Director of Public Works Mike Payne . I would say his best attributes include his long - range vision and ability to align resources to get things done . Brad will be an exceptional City Engineer .
Reents ' active community involvement includes serving two terms on both the Janesville Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and the Janesville Transportation Committee . He has volunteered locally as a mentor in the Future City Competition program at Franklin and Marshall Middle Schools . Reents resides in Janesville with his wife , Diana , and their two children .
