General Statement of Duties
The Child Welfare Case Aide, working under the direction of the Protective Services Administrator and Child Welfare Supervisor, is responsible for providing administrative support to caseworkers and staff, providing a variety of support and assistance to children and families that are clients of Elbert County Human Services, and assists in implementing and providing the fundamental aspects of programs or cases within the Department of Human Services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintains accurate records and prepares related reports.
Completes required paperwork; performs data entry; documents processes and procedures; develops new and updated forms and processes as applicable; requests copies of documents as needed; compiles and provides data and information to staff or partners as directed.
Performs clerical and administrative tasks as required.
Establishes and maintains clear and concise communication with staff, clients, foster parents, and other professionals, school staff, family members, and other community partners.
Provide support to caseworkers through shadowing, documentation assistance, and other duties as identified.
Schedules and attends meetings and performs clerical functions including documentation and dissemination of reports.
Preparation, review, and maintenance of internal files.
Attend court hearings and or staffings and meetings with providers, schools, and other professional partners.
Assist with information gathering and consolidating historical and background information.
Provide a variety of administrative supports including entering data and documenting case contacts for entry into Trails or CAPS.
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task without compromising quality of work.
Demonstrate superior verbal and written communication skills and effective listening skills.
Work as a member of a team, including communicating with peers and other professionals within and outside the agency.
Ability to manage and resolve conflicts, confrontations, and disagreements in a positive and constructive manner to minimize the negative impact
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all clients, partners, and customers

Responsibility
Oversight, training, assignments, and instruction may be received from the Protective Services Administrator, Child Welfare Supervisor, or Adult Protection Supervisor. The Administrator or Supervisors are available to provide day to day instruction and oversight. Work is reviewed for compliance to policy and general conclusions through spot checks, staffings, supervisory conferences, and judicial involvement.
Personal Work Relationships
This position requires contact and professional communications with family members, legal professionals, members of the judicial system and other members of the department and county government.
Education, Experience & Certifications
Minimum Educational Requirement
This position has obtained a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
Minimum Experience Requirement
Six (6) months of full-time public contact in human services or a related field.
Substitution for public contact shall include successful completion of a certificate program and/or college course equivalent to public contact in Human services or related field.
Knowledge
Basic knowledge of caseworker principles and practices.
Basic knowledge of community resources to assist clients.
Basic knowledge of data entry, report preparation, and records management.
Working knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other standard office equipment and technology.
Performing clerical duties, including filing, record keeping, answering phones and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional depth and breadth of job-related experience beyond the minimum qualifications
Prior experience in the human services or closely related field
Additional Requirements
Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must sign relevant confidentiality agreement(s) on an annual basis
Subject to random drug/alcohol testing per county policy
Bilingual a plus
Physical Effort, Work Environment
Incumbent is required to attend meetings and trainings within the county and state as necessary. Additionally, appearances at court and legal proceedings may be required. Majority of work is performed in a standard office environment. Incumbent may encounter angry, hostile clients and verbal abuse.
