Job Title:
C-CREO GEAR UP SUCCESS COACH
Department: SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT’S OFFICE
Starting Salary: $41,395 (Range 62)
Definition:
Under supervision from the C-CREO Project Director and the principal of the assigned site, coordinates school-based activities that support the C-CREO GEAR-UP Grant goals and objectives to increase the college- going rate of secondary school students in Santa Cruz County. These positions will be assigned to Nogales Unified School District #1.
Essential Functions:

Tasks:
Establishes the site-based C-CREO program and oversees its implementation. Communicates C-CREO’s vision and goals. Orients students, parents, and school faculties and staffs to GEAR UP and raise awareness of the benefits of postsecondary education in the communities at large. Serve as a college planning resource for parents, teachers, educators, and counselors. Develop and implement comprehensive pre-college programs for middle and high school students that include career exploration, academic planning and preparation, and financial planning and college application assistance. Work with C-CREO staff to provide summer enrichment activities. Develop and Implement parent workshops and special events that encourage and foster parental involvement. Conduct and supervise college visits and arrange for virtual tours. Manage data collection for project events including student and parent participation. Develop annual work plan. Serve as a mentor and positive role model for the C-CREO students and encourage student’s participation in project activities.
Knowledges, Skills, and Other Characteristics:
Knowledge of the community and needs of cohort students
Knowledge of community college and university academic standards and systems
Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work with diverse groups
Excellent facilitation skills
Technological skills including computer assisted instruction
Enjoy working with youth and their parents
Be self-motivated with a positive attitude
Be able to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend hours and some travel
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related discipline required, Master’s degree preferred
Experience in counseling, teaching or working with youth to include developing and directing individuals or groups
Spanish Fluency is preferred
