Business Services Director
FUNCTION
: Directs, coaches and manages the Business Services department. Supports the work of the General Manager focusing on the establishment, management, and optimization of day-to-day operations in finance, asset management, billing, cashiering, purchasing, warehouse, collections, and risk management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
:
1. Performs executive-level work under the guidance and general direction of the General Manager, including research, analysis, special projects, and studies
2. Directs and manages Business Services personnel, including recruitment, assignments, reviews, dismissals, and workforce planning
3. Identifies risk and works to minimize or eliminate the source of the risk
4. Performs administrative and oversight functions in approving proposals, expenditures and enforcing policies
5. Aligns finance, asset management, billing, cashiering, purchasing, and warehouse to operate together seamlessly and effectively to achieve goals and overall strategy
6. Advises and assists department directors on issues relating to budget, risk management, and policy
7. Ensures utility’s financial records conform to all applicable financial guidelines and regulations
8. Presents plans, progress status updates, and Business Services initiatives to General Manager
9. Keeps GM apprised of operational issues, risks, and opportunities; recommends and implements changes for improving operational efficiencies and minimizing risk, monitors progress on capital projects and budgets and reports same to GM; tracks key operating performance indicators and reports same to GM; provides recommendations and resources for strategic initiatives, reports to GM on key performance indicators related to strategic objectives/initiatives; makes recommendations to GM on strategic corporate issues
10. Participates in professional development activities to remain current with industry trends and best practices
11. Collaborates, coordinates, and communicates with GEUS management, internal GEUS departments, City departments and management, GEUS Board, auditing agencies, bonding agencies, credit agencies, and the public
12. Acts in the capacity of the General Manager in their absence; performs related work, as required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
:
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field
2. Seven years of progressively responsible management experience
3. Ability to exercise diplomacy and participative management skills that support team efforts and quality processes
4. Broad knowledge of all facets of the electric power industry, project management, budget and cost management, safety, and quality.
5. Independent judgment and decision-making abilities to apply technical skills effectively
6. Ability to monitor progress toward fiscal objectives and adjust plans as necessary to reach them
7. Ability to apply fundamental concepts of theories, work with advanced mathematical operations methods and functions of complex variables
CERTIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
:
1. CGFO certification, CPA, or ability to obtain certification within 18 months
Pay Rate: DOQ plus benefits Full-Time Employment
