   Incumbent serves as Bridge Crew Driver/Laborer for the Development & Storm Water Management, responsible for operating various trucks, tools and equipment for bridge maintenance and snow plowing operations.
   DUTIES:
   Sets up and operates various trucks and small equipment/tools in clearing and maintaining county bridges, roads and county right-of-ways, such as dump truck, snowplow, chain saw, wood chipper, plate compactors, jack hammers, power washers, power saws, sandblasters, hammer drills, core drill, cutting torch and skid steer.  
   Operates trucks to pull trailers, remove snow, haul, and apply various materials, such as stone, asphalt, dirt, sand, and salt.   Removing of debris in county right of way including animal remains.
   Ability to perform saw cutting, demolition, preparation of contact surfaces, construct formwork, install reinforcement, place and finish concrete for county roads or bridges.
   Ability to perform scour remediation efforts under existing bridges by hand digging, placing fabric, installing rip rap manually or by equipment underneath bridges.
   Installs/removes permanent and emergency road signs and installs pavement and railroad crossing markers.  
   Periodically performs traffic control/flagging at work sites, including directing traffic and setting signs, warning markers, barricades, and cones.
   Patches and replaces concrete, bituminous, steel and wood materials on county roadway or bridges. Shovels and spreads road patching materials if required.  
   Repairs or installs expansion joints on bridges, guardrails on bridges and roadways in county right of way.
   Clears and maintains county drains/ditches/tiles, including lifting, loading/unloading, installing, repairing and/or cleaning drainage pipes, culverts, catch basins.
   Clears and maintains county bridges by cleaning, debris removal, and surface sealing bridges.
   Maintains daily work records as required by the county and the State of Indiana, such as location, work performed, mileage, and materials used.  Receives/transmits information by two-way radio from/to Foreman and office.
   May assist in project observations tasks on capital projects as needed.
   Makes minor repairs on tools and equipment as needed.
   Ability to wear proper protective equipment dependent on work environments.
   Ability to serve on 24-hour call and respond swiftly, rationally, and decisively to emergency situations.
   Performs related duties as assigned.
   Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours if required
   *Summer and winter hours, days, and months may change at Porter County discretion.
