Belgrade woman admits embezzling from employer MISSOULA — A Belgrade woman on May 3 admitted to allegations that she embezzled what the government calculated to be more than $800 , 000 from her employer while working as an accountant and controller , U . S . Attorney Leif M . Johnson said today . Renae Swanson , 59 , pleaded guilty to wire fraud . Swanson faces a maximum of 20 years in prison , a $250 , 000 fine and three years of supervised release . U . S . Magistrate Judge Kathleen L . DeSoto presided . Sentencing was set for Aug . 23 before U . S . District Judge Dana L . Christensen . The court will determine any sentence after considering the U . S . Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors . Swanson was released pending further proceedings . The government alleged in court documents that Swanson was an accountant and controller for Williams Plumbing & Heating . Swanson’s duties included uploading electronic payroll files to the bank for funding and processing payroll transactions to the company’s employees . From about December 2012 until May 2019 , Swanson fraudulently altered that process , resulting in her increasing the amount of money she received from Williams Plumbing & Heating , none of which was authorized . The government calculated that Swanson embezzled approximately $805 , 013 . Assistant U . S . Attorney Ryan G . Weldon is prosecuting the case , which was investigated by the FBI . XXX
