   WORKING AVAILABILITY
   :  The ability to work between Sunday through Saturday from 8:00am until 9:00pm.  This position will not exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week.      
   SEASONAL PERIOD: 
   May 2022 until September 2022
   DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF CLASS
   :  Performs a variety of entry-level tasks within the Lakefront Department, specific to beach operations.  
   SUPERVISION RECEIVED
   :  Supervised by Lakefront Coordinator and/or Lead Beach Ranger(s).

   ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
   :
   The essential job duties below are equally of importance and must be performed in order for the incumbent to be successful.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
   •
       
   Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the beach and surrounding areas by collecting trash and removing trash can liners.
   •
       
   Raising public awareness of the natural habit on the lakefront and the endangered species that call the lakefront home.
   •
       
   Interacting with the public in order to maintain safety.
   •
       
   Patrol or monitor recreational areas and provide land based first aid and assistance when necessary.
   •
       
   Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury. 
   •
       
   Enforce rules and regulation for the safety of the beachgoers.
   •
       
   Work with Waukegan Police to ensure safety of the beachgoers.
   •
       
   Provide customer service to the public.
   •
       
   Landscaping and maintenance projects as identified throughout the season.   
   •
       
   Work well with co-workers and supervisory staff.

   PUBLIC CONTACT
   :
   The employee has regular contact with other City employees and the general public to provide assistance and answer any questions.  This is a public-facing position.
   CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT
   :
   •
       Maintain a valid 
   Driver’s License.  Please note that an expired Driver's License is unacceptable during employment.  
   •
       
   Understand that, should the position be vacated, the employee is required to return uniform items and equipment supplied specifically for the position.  Employee understands and will sign a form stating that if the said items are not returned upon separation of the position, the amount will be withheld from the final paycheck.
   •
       
   Understand the position is seasonal, part-time and never to exceed twenty-nine (29) hours per week.
   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
   : 
   The incumbent must possess the following minimum requirements in order to successfully perform the essential job duties.
   Education
   :  Working toward or in possession of a high school diploma or GED.  Please note that proof may be required prior to extending an offer of employment.
   Ability to
   :
   •
       
   Have and maintain an active telephone number.
   •
       
   Work a schedule that varies according to work load and weather conditions.
   •
       
   Ability to learn quickly and work with minimum amount of supervision.
   •
       
   Ability and willingness to perform tasks normally performed by workers in lower classifications.
