Under general supervision, performs routine, physical, semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in a variety of assignments. Work is normally routine and standardized, but will involve some limited choice of individual and independent action. Work is reviewed periodically and performance is based upon amount of work accomplished and results obtained. Performs other tasks in connection with the efficient operation of the department. This position will require occasional weekend and evening hours to assure that softball and baseball diamonds are prepared for games.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)
Move, load and unload materials, supplies and equipment.
Performs maintenance on athletic facilities, softball and baseball diamonds.
Drags baseball and softball diamonds using tractor and/or ball diamond rig.
Brooms, rakes and prepares diamonds with diamond rig and rake and stripes diamonds in preparation of games.
Gets diamonds ready for play after rain. Must be able to lift 50 lb. Bags of diamond dry or other drying agent.
Removes trash, and empties trash containers when necessary
Other duties as assigned to accomplish the department objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent.
A valid Ohio Operator’s License must be in effect during the probationary period and be insurable under the City’s Liability Policy to operate City equipment and vehicles.
Must be physically able to work in all types of weather, climate and at night.
Some knowledge of the methods, practices, tasks and equipment used in the field of parks and recreation. Knowledge of lawn mowers and related equipment.
Skill in use of simple hand tools and equipment.
Skill in use of recreational and athletic equipment.
Some knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in general building and groundwork.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Those of appropriate age would operate some small hand and/or power tools.
Ability to get along with fellow workers, supervisors and general public.
Must successfully complete pre-employment physical, drug testing and criminal background investigation.
