   Avondale Hires Renee Weatherless as new Finance Director
    
   The City of Avondale has hired Renee Weatherless as the new Finance Director . Weatherless joins the City this week .
   Renee Weatherless most recently served as Executive Finance Director for the Tucson Unified School District , one of the largest school districts in Arizona .  She brings over 25 years of experience in financial management to her new position with Avondale .  
   Weatherless has been with the Tucson Unified School District since 2013 , where she worked her way up from a Budget Analyst to a Senior Director of Finance , before being promoted to Executive Finance Director . Prior to her tenure with Tucson Unified , she worked in the private sector in administration and finance management roles with the Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Newspapers .
   As Avondale’s Finance Director , she will manage the city’s $336 million budget . She will have oversight of the Finance Department’s staff and many functions . Her responsibility will include oversight of fiscal planning and treasury services , utility billing , cash receipts , purchasing , payroll , business licensing , transaction privilege ( sales ) tax , accounts payable , as well as development and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets . She will also be responsible for preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report , facilitating external audits and independent reviews , and grant financial reporting .
   Weatherless holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Arizona and an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management .
