   TITLE:  Assistant Pool Manager - Seasonal/temporary position 
    
   DEPT:  Recreation and Parks 
    
   SALARY:  $13.39 per hour

   DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    
   This staff member is responsible for ensuring the safety of the aquatic facility and patrons; recognizes and responds effectively in emergencies; fulfills the duties 
   as part of the management team
   ; provides general oversight of the lifeguard staff and monitors all activities in the pool area. 
   Provides proper surveillance of facility and patrons.
   Enforces all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
   Identifies hazardous conditions and eliminates/minimizes them to ensure safety.
   Recognizes and responds effectively to incidents and emergencies.
   Provides proper emergency care (first aid, resuscitation, CPR, use of AED) when necessary.
   Reports unsafe/unsatisfactory conditions and behaviors to the supervisor and completes an incident report.
   Maintains a clean, neat, and organized pool facility.
   Tests pool water and completes chemical log records.
   Assists the aquatic manager and participates with in-service training sessions.
   Oversees lifeguard rotations, positioning, and coverage.
   Ensures lifeguard staff is providing proper supervision of patrons.
   Interacts in a positive and effective manner with all patrons regardless of age.
   Completes assigned records and reports and submits them within the required timeframe.
   Registers patrons for programs and other activities.
   Collects fees and generates receipts.
   Prepares deposit forms and assumes fiscal accountability.
   Provides accurate program and facility information.
   Assists with maintaining a safe aquatic area to include providing work direction to staff members with real-time feedback and notes suggestions and comments for supervisory review.
   Acts as a lifeguard during shift by modeling standards and expectations.
   Serves as first level of contact for responding to and documenting incidents when other lifeguard staff members need assistance.
   Provides quality customer service to members and participants.
   May assist with implementation of in-service training sessions.
   Attends weekly in-service trainings.
   Performs other similar duties as requested by supervisor.
    
   SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
    
   This position reports directly to the Pool Manager and interacts regularly with team members, parents, and patrons with the responsibility of providing daily technical feedback for lifeguards during scheduled shifts.
    
   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
   Pertaining to supervisory work, this position is light to medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently. However, if performing lifeguard work, this position requires the force for heavy lifting, pulling, kneeling, crouching, balancing, stooping, reaching, grasping, swimming, standing, walking, sitting, and climbing to manipulate objects; each position also requires visual acuity and the ability to orally communicate effectively with guests.
   Minimum Qualifications:
   *Possesses a minimum of two (2) years paid lifeguard experience with a community swimming pool
   *Possesses American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR Training Certification
   *Availability to work an average of 30-40 hours per week during the season
   *Availability to work from 7am-11pm with flexibility for days that may have split hours
   *Possesses the skills to be a collaborator as well as an effective communicator and listener 
    
   *Preferred but not required – Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training Instructor, Certified Pool Operator
   *Possesses a current NC driver’s license
