SUMMARY
Under direction of the Community Services Manager, the position performs a variety of duties involved in the investigation of alleged violations of and the enforcement of the municipal code including: animal, nuisance, and health and safety. Educates the public about relevant code enforcement information and how to abate code violations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Answers questions and provides information to the public, City staff, business owners and other interested parties regarding code enforcement related items.
Provides a high level of customer service at all times; project and maintain a positive image on behalf of the City of Siloam Springs with those contacted in the course of work.
Investigates complaints and initiates pro-active enforcement of violation of the federal, state and local municipal Animal code and; issues courtesy notices, notices of violation, citations, correction notices.
Revisits previously cited properties to ensure compliance, conduct follow-up investigations to ensure further compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.
Evaluates environmental conditions through neighborhood inspections and recommends or initiates procedures.
Prepare documentation for submission to the City Attorney to file complaint for noncompliance and testify in court as necessary on behalf of the City.
Maintains files and records related to citations and violations.
Prepares a variety of written reports, memorandums and correspondences.
Input and retrieve a variety of information using a computer.
Performs community education outreach efforts to inform citizens of City standards in the areas of animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, housing, health, nuisance and general property maintenance. Works with community organizations to help citizens who are unable to help themselves.
Attends conferences, schools and meetings to keep abreast of current trends
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide seamless customer service.
Apprehends and confines stray, injured, and nuisance domestic and wild animals in the safest, humane and approved manner as possible. Administers emergency first aid. Transports animals to sheltering facility. Transports animals for rabies testing. Disposes of deceased animals.
Assist in shelter cleaning, maintenance, and the care of impounded animals when necessary. Inspects and cleans department vehicle and equipment and reports problems.
Inspects animal related businesses to issue operation permits. Maintains inspection files.
Assist callers with information regarding code enforcement laws pertaining to property or animals and answer questions about animals at the shelter.
Assist in data entering from incoming calls, receiving monies for licenses, redemptions, adoptions, surrenders and donations when necessary.
