                       Municipal Services Department – Streets / Airport Division
   HOURS OF WORK:
               40 hours per week, as per the Collective Agreement. Shift work as required.
   The successful applicant will also be required to assume after hours Municipal Services Standby.

   GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
   As this is a combined position, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out instructions as required within the Streets and Airport Divisions of the Municipal Services Department. The Airport duties will include carrying out day-to-day operations including maintenance of airside/groundside infrastructure and fuel handling. The daily operations within the Municipal Services / Streets Department duties will include manual labour in construction, repair and maintenance and snow removal.
   SUPERVISION:
   The incumbent is responsible to the Director of Municipal Services and/or Manager of Public Works under the direction of the Airport Manager / Streets Foreman and/or designate.
   MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
   Perform manual labour in construction, repair and maintenance within the Municipal Services Department.
   Manual labour in repair and maintenance within the Airport Division.
   Installation and maintenance of traffic and airport signage, including visual aids in airfield lighting.
   Responsible for dispensing and handling of aviation fuel as required.
   Responsible for maintenance, testing and monitoring of aviation fuel system as required.
   Responsible for coordinating and performing minor facility maintenance, such as repairs to plumbing, fencing, painting, security gates and facility mechanical systems, etc.
   Inspection of visual aids and airfield lighting.
   Responsible to ensure that materials removed from Stores to undertake project or maintenance work are correctly booked out as required by the Purchasing Agent.
   Must be willing to work within the safety guidelines as established by the City and Transport Canada.
   Must work within safety guidelines as established by the City and/or the Work Safe BC Compensation Board.
   Shall be required to work shift work and in inclement weather conditions.
   Responsible for assisting in the training of new employees to familiarize them with Municipal work.
   Shall be required to work shift work as scheduled and overtime as required.
   Other duties as may be assigned to assist with the City’s day to day operation and of the Airport Division.
   Shall be required to respond to call-out for emergency maintenance and repair work at short notice and work in inclement weather conditions.
   Responsible for ensuring safe work practices used on the job site and assisting in the development of safer and more efficient methods of work.
   Required to be trained and maintain permits and certification at the Williams Lake Regional Airport.
   Maintain training records.
   May be required to participate as a member of the Municipal Services standby group – on call rotation, either at the Airport or for the streets division.
   Responsible for assisting in the training of new employees to familiarize them with Municipal work.
   QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
   Minimum Grade XII or equivalent.
   Shall possess a valid B.C. Driver's License - Class 5 with Air Endorsement.
   Shall possess a valid Aviation Restricted Radio Operator`s Permit, or obtain it within 2 months.
   Shall possess a valid Airside Vehicle Operator`s Permit, or obtain it within 2 months
   Shall possess CSA Standard, or equivalent, certification of aviation fuel handling competency. 
   Shall possess Human Factors, or obtain it within 2 months
   Shall possess Williams Lake Airport Security Awareness Program, or obtain it within 2 months
   Shall have thorough working knowledge and be capable of operating small equipment, weed eater, chain saw, hustler, etc. 
   Shall have the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
   Shall be capable of and have experience working with basic hand tools.
   Shall have at least six months experience of related municipal work or six months experience in a Municipal Services Equipment Operator I position or equivalent experience.
   Shall be
   proficient and safely
   operate
   the following equipment within the Streets Division:
   single axle truck                                  
   snow clearing sidewalk machine and attachments                                         
   small power/hand tools
   sanding/salting equipment
   asphalt recycler
   crack sealer     
   Shall be capable of understanding, reporting verbally and by written report in English and accept and comprehend verbal instructions.
   Shall have the desire and initiative to undertake additional training courses, and additional training in the correct operation of other equipment and to upgrade skills and abilities.
   Shall have the ability to work with others as a team.
   Must be Fully Vaccinated with COVID-19 Vaccination.
