The 
   Housing Element Advisory Committee
    will continue its review of opportunity sites for new housing in Sausalito at its monthly meeting via Zoom on Monday , May 23 .
   The current estimate from the City ' s consulting team is that sites remain to be identified that could accommodate approximately 582 new housing units in four income categories . That figure takes into account a buffer of 25% in the event that some sites are rejected by the California Department of Housing and Community Development .
   The committee will focus its May 23 discussion on opportunity sites where it has not previously provided direction , as well as on sites suggested by committee members . Sites to be discussed are located throughout the community and include City Hall and the City Hall parking lot , a parcel adjacent to the Cypress Ridge Open Space , and properties in the Marinship . These sites would require rezoning and/or a voter initiative for development to be allowed .
   Sausalito ' s 2023 - 2031 Housing Element must be adopted by the City Council and submitted to the California Department of Housing and Community Development no later than January 31 , 2023 .
   The May 23 meeting of the Housing Element Advisory Committee will begin at 5:30 p . m . Information on attending the meeting via Zoom may be found on the
