The Garland County Veterans Memorial Committee will be hosting A Day for Commemoration of the Vietnam Water 50

   Anniversary at 11 a . m . on Tuesday , March 29 , at the Veterans Memorial of Garland County , 118 Orange Street .
   The event will feature tribute music , speakers and a possible momento for veterans or spouse/family members from this time period . Everyone is invited to come and help pay tribute to the men and women who served our country during the Vietnam War .  
   In the event of rain , the event will move to the Farmers Market Pavilion , located across Orange Street from the memorial .  
   As authorized by Congress and established under the Secretary of Defense , the purpose of the annual March 29 Vietnam War Day of Commemoration is to thank and honor all veterans and their families who served from Nov . 1 , 1955 , through May 15 , 1975 , with distinct recognition of former POW’s and families of those still listed as MIA . Also recognized are the wartime contributions of those on the home front , as well as a tribute to allies , Australia , New Zealand , Philippines , Republic of Korea and Thailand .
