The Town’s nursing facility, Our Island Home, seeks a Dietary Aide to prepare, serve and handle food for resident meals and maintaining nourishment centers in the facility. The position reports to the Food Service Supervisor. Work is to be done in a dignified, caring, safe, and efficient manner.
Requirements: Must have the knowledge and the skills to use common kitchen equipment such as various utensils, appliances, and cleaning devices. An interest in working with the elderly is essential. Must maintain an understanding and compassionate attitude toward residents and staff alike. Experience in food preparation is preferred. Knowledge of standards of sanitation and completion of ServSafe course is expected. Must have good cooperative skills and attitude to work with supervisors, co-workers, and residents while having the initiative and good judgment necessary to perform tasks well and completely. Some lifting and carrying of objects weighing 30 pounds or less may be required. Includes standing, sitting, and/or walking for the greater portion of the day.
Twenty-four (24) hours per week; Union Position; Benefits; Starting Hourly Rate $22.84
