The Parks & Recreation Department including Parks, Pool, Camp, Flint Hills Golf Course, and RecPlex has positions open for the season that include Concessions/Sales Workers, Lifeguards, Counselors, and Laborers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Laborers
: Under general supervision as a manual laborer and limited skill equipment operator engaging in a wide range of conservation and other outdoor recreation maintenance and construction activities. Work with a lead person, though may be called upon to work on job assignments without direct supervision and being guided only by general job instructions. The primary purpose is the care and maintenance of park and recreations facilities and grounds. Mowing and trimming, litter and trash removal, shelter, and restroom cleaning, operates trucks, mowers, string trimmers, hand tools and grounds equipment as necessary to maintain park sites.
Concessions Pool & RecPlex
:
Prepares food & beverage items for resale, waits on & serves the public. Ensures dining area is clean & well organized (under 16 accepted with work permit).
Salespersons Golf
:
Sells greens fees, works concessions, rents & cleans carts, and performs other related duties at Flint Hills Clubhouse.
Camp Counselor
: Responsible for the supervision of children participating in the Summer Camp Program for youth. Also responsible for the planning & implementation of summer activities and site supervision.
Pool: Lifeguards
(must be 16) Have lifeguard certifications and first aid certificate.
Seasonal employees are hired for 3-to-9-month positions & are normally assigned to one Parks & Recreation Department division. Period of Employment: March 15th - November 15
th
(Time period may vary). Monday– Friday, 40 hours per week (Possible weekends and evenings).
In addition to the above duties & responsibilities, seasonal employees are required to perform other duties as assigned, represent the City in a professional, responsible & trustworthy manner & report to work as scheduled.
